Today, a cooperation memorandum between the Organizing Committee of the 43rd Chess Olympiad and the Business and Technology University (BTU) was signed: BTU will be a technical supporter and one of the partners of the large-scale sporting event.
Batumi will be hosting the Chess Olympiad from September 23 till October 6. Georgia will be visited by the teams of men and women from 189 countries and in general, by up to 4000 guests.
The BTU rector Mikheil Batiashvili, the Georgian Chess Federation president Giorgi Giorgadze and the legendary chess player, the five-time World Chess Champion, the 43rd Chess Olympiad’s goodwill ambassador Nona Gaprindashvili talked to the students about the importance of the Olympiad, the organizational matters and the projects included in the memorandum.
The Business and Technology University will provide the Chess Olympiad’s broadcasting and editing room with high-tech computers. Furthermore, the university will supply the special laboratory, created in order to properly prepare the Georgian chess players’ teams, with high-productivity computers.
After the memorandum was signed the BTU students participated in the chess quiz and went up against the Kutaisi Akaki Tsereteli State University students in the online project “Million Moves” specially started for the Chess Olympiad.
