Batumi 2018: Ju Wenjun is the new Women’s World Chess Champion!

A 27 year old Chinese Grandmaster Ju Wenjun is the new Women’s World Chess Champion!

Wenjun has defeated the now former Women’s World Chess Champion Tan Zhongyi with the points 5,5:4,5 at the championship match held in Shanghai and Chongqing, China. The last and 10th round was held today in Chongqing and ended in a draw.

Ju Wenjun has been playing in the Chinese women’s team since 2008 and has become a winner of the World Championship in 2009 and 2011 together with her team, and in 2016 she won the Chess Olympiad in Baku.
