Chess Olympiad 2018: Bathusa visited Kobuleti

An event dedicated to the 43rd World Chess Olympiad was held as part of the Summer Colors festival in Kobuleti. The corner decorated with the theme of the Chess Olympiad held a special place and was distinguished among other theme pavilions near the central park. The Olympiad banners, flags and information board - all this attracted the guests’ attention and the Organizing Committee of the Batumi Chess Olympiad gave them complete information about the Batumi 2018. The most popular was the Olympiad’s mascot turtle Bathusa, which welcomed the children at the giant chessboard and after, took memorable photos with the guests. A simultaneous chess game session was also held under the auspices of The Summer Colors festival - the chess enthusiasts tried their strength with Grandmaster Miranda Mikadze.
“It is great that the pre-Olympiad spirit can be felt in Kobuleti as well. We are planning many more interesting events and I’m certain that the Chess Olympiad will be a true celebration for each citizen and visitor of our country”, - Said FIDE consultant Sofio Bakuridze. Batumi will be hosting the 43rd World Chess Olympiad from September 23 to October 5. Four thousand guests from 189 countries will visit Georgia specially for the Olympiad.
